Serving & Supporting Others
“Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, ‘Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.’” ~ Mark 9:35
Jesus calls us to serve others as He taught us to serve, and at FPC, we are passionate about living into that call as we strive to serve our community and schools with our time and energy.
Mission Committee is actively involved in the following outreach activities:
Hands-On support for Lincoln-McCandless School: Members of FPC spend one Sunday morning each August to help teachers prepare their rooms and freshen up the area around the school. Members of FPC provide occasional meals and snacks, help teachers in the classroom, and with special events.
Prayer Partners: Teachers and staff at Lincoln-McCandless have the opportunity opt-in to be paired with a member of FPC as a prayer and support partner. The FPC congregation is encouraged to lift the entire school community in prayer.
Refugee Resettlement: Under the direction of the International Rescue Committee - Wichita Field Office. Mission committee will work to resettle one refugee family in the Hutchinson area in 2023.
‘We'll Leave our Lights On' Thanksgiving Food Drive: "We'll Leave Our Lights On," is an annual event including over 20 area churches that have their sanctuary lights shining while participants collect donations of non-perishable foods for those in our community who have food insecurity.
Earth Matters: As a multi-faith group, EARTH MATTERS focuses on improving the health of earth's environment and embraces the opportunity in helping to make good choices for all creation. Through education and inspiration EARTH MATTERS is working to leave a just, equitable, and livable earth for future generations.

Stephen Ministers are trained caregivers who provide confidential prayerful assistance to those experiencing life’s challenges and difficulties. They provide confidential, one-to-one, Christian care to people who are experiencing difficulty in their lives such as grief, loneliness, divorce, hospitalization, disability, or job loss.
Stephen Ministers are not ordained pastors or counselors, they are laypeople who are trained to walk with you, help you carry your burdens, and bring God's loving care. First Presbyterian Church of Hutchinson is preparing to roll out a Stephen Ministries program serving the Hutchinson community.
