Blue Christmas at Emanuel Lutheran

First Presbyterian Church will be joining with Grace Episcopal Church and Emanuel Lutheran Church this year for a Blue Christmas service, which will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19 at Emanuel Lutheran, 140 E. 30th at 7 p.m. A Blue Christmas service, sometimes called a Silent Christmas service, is a service for people who aren't feeling particularly festive at this time of year, whether that is due to the loss of a loved one, or stress, family estrangement, job loss, depression, whatever it is, the Blue Christmas service gives people space to recognize those emotions, to name them, and to bring them to Jesus. The service will include prayers, liturgy, music, and communion. Pastor Christy and FPC vocalist Elizabeth Lane will be participating in the service. Anyone is welcome to attend.
